Scope of Project

Caran Precision Engineering and Manufacturing is a premier metal stamping and manufacturing company, with over 50 years of experience in Orange County. Their state of the art facility in Brea, CA, uses stamping, finishing, and assembling equipment to build for various tolerances, and to do so takes a lot of electricity. With the help of Frisco Energy, Caran Precision looked to commercial solar & energy storage to help save on their electricity bills.

Historically California businesses have experienced at least 3% year-over-year growth in rising electricity costs. In recent months, most businesses have seen much higher cost growth. Caran didn’t want their utility to dictate how they used energy, so after contacting the Frisco Energy team, a plan was quickly set in place and executed.

Frisco Energy fit an almost 967.75 kW fixed-tilt PV system to the property, supplemented with a 250kW energy storage system to cut any demand charges associated with intense spikes in energy use. Carport structures were built to add to the system’s size. The inverters convert the direct current to quality AC power. Any excess energy generated is stored in their battery ESS.

Frisco Energy’s project managers worked with Brea City and Orange County authorities and code enforcement along the way to collect the necessary certifications. Interconnection with Southern California Edison was recently obtained with Permission to operate.

The system is expected to produce over $10m of electricity in its 30-year lifespan. Caran Precision Engineering and Manufacturing Company looks toward a bright future with a smaller carbon footprint and much lower energy costs.

More California businesses, like this one, are realizing the benefits of commercial solar. In 2022, California was briefly powered by 100% clean energy for the first time, two-thirds of that demand was supplied by solar.

Frisco Energy’s team of commercial and agricultural solar specialists offer turnkey solutions for California businesses to lower their electricity costs ultimately increasing cash flow.
